WELCOME TO ST. LOUIS PEDIATRIC ASSOCIATES
SLPA POSITION ON MANAGEMENT OF POTENTIAL SWINE FLU OUTBREAK
You can be confident that your pediatrician at St. Louis Pediatric Associates, Inc. is monitoring the swine flu information as it becomes available. Your child’s health is
important to us.
At this time, we are making a link to the CDC website available that will remain updated
with the most current information available. http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/swineflu_you.htm
Your child would be considered at low risk unless there is evidence of a febrile (fever)
flu-like illness with the presence of at least one of these conditions:
1) A history of travel to Mexico over the past 7 days;
2) Contact with someone who has traveled to Mexico over the past 7 days;
or
3) Contact with someone who has a documented case of swine flu.
Our research is indicating that the documented cases in some other parts of the world
are resulting in patients getting much sicker than the few cases thus far in the United
States. Testing needs to be reserved for cases that meet the criteria as the supplies
for testing will be in short supply.
If your child is ill, or you have further concerns, please contact our office and your
pediatrician will contact you to discuss further options.
